Looking for a leadership learning program that will stick?
Saturday, April 26th, 2008During my many years as a corporate executive, leader and manager, I attended dozens of training programs, completed countless assessments and received hundreds of feedback pointers and development tips from my bosses, mentors and senior managers. But like so many of us, I was constantly challenged when it came to transferring this training and feedback into my day to day work. I loved many of the ideas, however, either the format of the teaching or the frenzy of the day to day got in my way.
Often, those ideas I remembered and used the most either came from people I deeply respected and admired or from those people who had a true gift for facilitating learning in others. I’m betting that the people I most respected and admired, in fact, had a talent for facilitating learning in others! Hmmm.
Why will this training stick?
This training is designed so that the skills are transferred because you will:
Learn a mindset that will reduce your workload by transferring the creative thinking and problem solving demand others make on you back to them
Learn a process to create powerful goal oriented conversations where you are the facilitator of their learning and development
Learn through observing and through many in class experiential exercises a proven process to guide these conversations
Learn and practice simple yet powerful tools to expand choice and facilitate other’s learning
Application of the mindset, process and tools to case studies and your current work situation
Participation in follow up learning tele-labs which will provide an accountability structure for you and increase your likelihood of transferring the classroom learning into your day to day work
How will this program enhance your leadership impact?
Remember when I said that those people I admired and respected the most probably had a talent for facilitating learning in others? This program is designed to support you in developing some fundamental skills that will enable you to facilitate learning in others.
It’s not just me who is impacted by leaders and managers who facilitate learning in others. “Being challenged and stretched to do the best I can do” is consistently fed back to me by participants in my workshops as a key characteristic of leaders they most admire, and who had the greatest impact on them.
